Who would have thought the USDA would be behind an initiative to return Americans to healthy eating habits through supporting local farmers. For far too long factory farms have robbed local farmers of their livlihoods, polluted our waterways, endangered their employees through unsanitary working conditions, pumped cows, pigs, and chickens full of antibotics, hormones, and feed products they aren't meant to eat, not to speak of the horrific conditions under which they are housed (cruel doesn't even begin to describe it) which leads to illness such as "mad cow diease" and "swine flu". I'm encouraged. We have to stop the industrial agriculture machines who only care about money, regardless of the consequences to animals, people and the planet.
